And Happy Easter to you as well! I’m sure your flowers and trees have been beautiful and that you’ve been enjoying them - how are you spending your Fall days?
Dear Mary, thank you very much. We have had lovely Summer weather this year, but the lack of much rain has been hard on the garden. Only the plants in tubs and pots, that we watered, flowered well and looked great. The trees and bushes look splendid.
I didn't do any gardening this Summer as I haven't been very well. I fell in the garden on my face into gravel in January. My face and eye have healed now without any scarring. Then a few days later I developed a very bad cough that made it hard for me to breath. Mum called an ambulance, and I spent the night in hospital. I was then discharged back home, only to be rushed back to hospital again for 4 days until my oxygen saturation levels were acceptable again. It wasn't Covid. My left lung had partially collapsed, and I had pleural oedema, but not quite pneumonia.
Heaven only knows what caused it as I hadn't been unwell, hadn't had a cold or anything. They said I have a spot on my lung which they are keeping an eye on. I am going back to hospital tomorrow afternoon for yet another chest x-ray. It is going to be a busy day for me as I will be taking my father to a different hospital in the morning for a post-op follow-up too.
Autumn is lovely, the days are much cooler averaging 22 C to 23 C, my favourite temperature range. We had a nice crop of blueberries, enough to put on my breakfast every day. The raspberries are still fruiting. We inherited a few bushes when we moved here, plus this year we bought 4 more. They are all Spring and Autumn fruiting raspberries. I had never heard of raspberries that fruited twice a year before! The Chilean cherry guavas are ripening now too. I have to pick them just as they become ripe, before the birds have a chance to get them!
I hope that you are well and enjoying your Easter holidays.
Dear Helene, thank you very much, I wish you a very Happy Easter too! I just popped over to your blog to see your delightful paintings. I do love Spring flowers. Lots of hugs, Rose x
Dear Janice, Thank you very much. I hope you had a great Easter!
We had a very quiet Easter this year because my father had an operation on his eye on Saturday, the day before Easter. He is 95 now and it took a lot out of him to go through. Dad is much better today, more like his usual self. I will be taking him back to hospital tomorrow for a post-op check.
My brother popped in yesterday with his wife and my nephew and brought us lots of yummy Easter treats. And my sister came over this morning with more goodies and some left-over limoncello trifle from her Easter lunch yesterday, so we didn't miss out too much.
Easter blessings to you Rose. I'm sorry that the start of the year has been tough for you with health issues. I hope that all goes well with the chest x ray and that you receive the medication/support needed. Sending hugs from the UK xx
Dear Beverley, thank you very much. I hope that you had a lovely holiday!
I had the x-ray today and was told that it will take up to 3 weeks before I get the results. I am much better than I was in January, just rather tired, but that isn't unusual for me :o)
We have decided to get a cleaner in for 2 hours fortnightly, to help with the housework. It is a bit too much for me at the moment, especially with looking after mum and dad too. So, things are looking up.
Dad also had a check-up at hospital this morning and the results of the surgery looked very promising. I have to take dad for another check-up in 4-6 weeks-time to see how his eye is progressing with healing. By that time the blurriness should have gone, and then he may need new prescription lenses. In the mean-time dad has been told to wear his glasses with the lens over his healing eye taken out. Now I have the job of stopping dad from doing anything in the garden. He has been told to rest by the hospital so his eye can heal. I think we will have to tie him down or hide his wellingtons lol.
Have a great week this week. Sending you hugs too from NZ. Love Rose xx
